Tripp Trapp for Small Spaces

We’re apartment dwellers with limited space and a combined living room/dining area. The Tripp Trapp was, aesthetically, a logical choice for us since we really, really didn’t want a huge, unattractive plastic high chair camped out right in the middle of our apartment for eighteen months or so.

I loved the look of the Tripp Trapp and the sleek black finish goes perfectly with our decor, but I was dubious about how it’d work: compared to a lot of the high chairs out there it’s so minimalist. I wondered if the Tripp Trapp would have enough support for an infant. Z., our five-month-old baby, is just starting to sit up on his own. Yesterday morning, as I was getting Z.’s avocado mush ready, I realized how much easier it’d be if I could have him at table height rather than in his bouncy chair. I had long ago assembled the chair (15 minutes to do, and super-easy for anyone who’s ever had a go at Ikea flat pack) and was using it as a reading-material-and-glass-of-water table beside our glider (the Tripp Trapp is really versatile!). It took just a couple of minutes to finish setting up the harness and restraint so I could get the baby in there for breakfast. I put Z. in and was totally surprised–he was perfectly at ease and well-supported in the chair, all five months of him. And best of all, Z. was totally delighted.

Orbit Stroller

Why do I love thee?  Because it folds with one hand WITH the bag on.  Because the bag comes off the stroller with a flick of the wrist if needed.  Because it already comes with a carseat.  Because the colors don’t show dirt!  Because the “paparazzi shield” covers the entire bassinet or carseat so no additional umbrellas or gadgets are necessary.  Because it has a narrow profile that fits down the tiny aisles of NYC bodegas.  Because the breaks actually work.
