We recently started carrying some fun wooden building toys by Tegu. We were fortunate enough to try out a set. These little blocks are so great. My kids, 3 and 5 yrs. old, love to build things with blocks, legos, etc, but the funnest thing they discovered about these little wooden toys, is that they have magnets in them and they “click” together. It added a new dimension to playing and building for them. It did take them a little while to get use to the new way of building and creating, and I have to mention that both of them separately said that they needed some wheels to go with them! So, I recommend adding a set or two of wheels to go with any set that you might purchase. Children have such great imaginations and ideas. I honestly don’t remember any of the names of the things they created though most of them probably had “rocket” in it. Before I knew it, there were several Tegu “planks” holding up pictures and charts on our refrigerator.
Each Tegu building set is available in a variety of 3 finishes, natural, tints, and colors. We received the Endeavor Set in Tints. The blocks are made from a variety of FSC certified Honduran wood. The founders of Tegu wanted to create a for-profit company based in Honduras that would foster a positive social impact through its business, and it has been very successful in doing so. Tegu has been in business for about 4 years, working with Honduran cooperatives to harvest wood responsibly and the Tegu factory is right in Honduras creating more jobs for the local people.
